Task Management

Info on how HPC uses Asana for project management

Asana

Morehouse HPC uses Asana for project management. Any new group members should be added into the Morehouse HPC project by a current member.

New Tasks

All tasks have an assignee and collaborators. Pick a member to lead a task and add assignees as needed. Tasks should be tagged: Server for general operations and machine related tasks, Org for tasks related to managing the HPC group, Docs for documentation changes, and Users for helpdesk or user management. Tasks can also have a priority, Low, Medium, or High.

Once a task is created, move it from “Inbox” into the “In Progress” section.

Status Updates

Asana supports pretty robust documentation, so for the sake of simplicity any updates and developments about a task should be posted inside Asana.

Allocate time during meetings for “standups” where members discuss their assigned tasks. Completed tasks can be moved to the “Done” section. Tasks that rely on external factors (for example, a delayed shipment of computers) can be moved to the “Blocked” section and reevaluated later down the line.
